The art of painting goes way back in time as it plays an vital role within the interior designs of towers, homes, renowned buildings and royal family dwellings. Numerous renowned and respected artists from each component of the world utilized oil painting to paint the momentum of history with its modifications in distinct eras, rules and reigns. Most historic paintings have been kept and preserved in a few of the world's exceptional museums though other people had been gone in time. Art is much more than just a uncomplicated expression but rather it truly is thought frozen in colorful handworked magic just like the Quality Art Oil you are going to see on this page.
Oil painting mediums are quickly offered for anybody, but this has caused a loss in artistry. Nevertheless, only a handful of painters are skilled with aptitude in painting techniques. Basically, virtually anybody can perform paintings in spite of one's skill or experience but the real art of oil painting has lost its originality. This is due to the fact the number of artists who take the trouble to educate themselves into practicing the artistry of oil painting medium are getting smaller.

What art/paint supplies should I get? I'm a beginner? (Answer fast)?
I'm starting to get really interested in art/painting.
I'm a beginner. I don't draw that well, I'm not that good at it. But all I need is practice, right?
I'm wondering what art/paint supplies I should get.
I have 35 dollars that I can spend on Amazon.com. Plus, if that's not enough I can do chores around the house to earn money, then I can go to a art/craft store and buy some more art/paint supplies.
Someday, I want to be a really good drawer and painter.
I'm also interested in very good quality art/paint supplies. I do NOT and I repeat do NOT want the crappy Crayola art/paint supplies. I want a good brand.
I also would like to have a new easel, watercolor paints, water color pencils, erasers, a good set of pencils, a good set of colored pencils, a sketch book, charcoal chalk, charcoal pencils, oil paints, and acrylic paints. Is that all I need? If not, what else do I need?
Help me please!
Thanks.
That's great you are interested in art! But you have to take it one step at a time. First, you must learn drawing. It's an established fact that you can't paint well if you do not know how to draw. Decide what you want to draw: People, Flowers, Landscapes, Still Life. If you want to learn how to draw everything, then start with People first. Since you are a beginner, all you need to buy is a 2B graphite pencil, paper, and books on how to draw. Buy as many drawing books as you can and study the material in the books and draw the pictures in the books. You should also draw from life, Example: Draw a real person while they are sitting still and watching tv or draw everything in your house. The key is to PRACTICE DRAWING EVERYDAY so you can quickly master drawing skills.
TIPS ON DRAWING:
In order to draw/paint something realistic you must understand how the subject is lighted: 1. Side Lighting 2. Three Quarter/Conventional Lighting 3. Frontal/Front Lighting 4. Top/Overhead Lighting 5. Back/Rear/Rim Lighting 6. Diffused Lighting 7. Stage Lighting.
As you observe how the light falls on the object, your next step is to draw/paint it. The 7 lighting arrangements mentioned above are shaded in 7 different ways on an object using 5 values. In order to make something look realistic, you must use a variety of values from light to dark. Buy the book Light, Shade, & Shadow by E.L. Koller
Learn to draw/paint the 5 values on an object. The book, Cast Drawing Using The Sight-Size Approach by Darren R. Rousar uses these 5 terms: 1. Shadow 2. Halftone 3. Light 4. Highlight 5. Reflected Light. The book, Lifelike Drawing With Lee Hammond uses these 5 terms: 1. Cast Shadow 2. Shadow Edge 3. Halftone 4. Reflected Light 5. Full Light.
Also, in order to draw/paint something realistic, you must learn perspective, which is the illusion of depth and dimension on a flat surface. Things look different when viewed from various positions, which is called one point perspective, two point perspective, three point perspective, or foreshortening. Buy the book, Perspective by William F. Powell.
TIPS ON PAINTING:
Once you master drawing, light & shade, perspective then move on to painting. Buy one tube of oil paint, watercolor paint, and acrylic paint to decide which paint you like working with. Oil paint is expensive, dries very slow. Watercolor is very transparent, must add many layers to build up a solid color. Acrylic dries fast but it is very versatile, it can resemble an oil painting or a watercolor painting. In my opinion, acrylic paint is the best!
Buy books on how to paint in your preferred painting medium. These books will also tell you what painting supplies you will need to buy. Also, buy books on color theory and how to mix colors. Some colors when mixed with other colors will produce a muddy color if you don't know how to mix them properly. PRACTICE PAINTING EVERYDAY.
The best paint or colored pencils to buy is "artist grade" or "professional grade" because they are highly pigmented, permanent, archival, and lightfast. If you can't afford artist/professional grade, look for paints/colored pencils that are labeled: lightfast, light resistant, fade resistant, artist quality, fine quality, high quality, premium quality, professional quality. If you use "student grade" or "scholastic" paint/colored pencils your artwork may fade over time because they generally use a lower quality pigment.
The following two systems are used to rate the lightfastness of paint and colored pencils: ASTM International gives ratings I, II, III, IV, V. Blue Wool Scale gives ratings 1 to 8. Ratings I, II and Ratings 8, 7, 6 are for permanent works of art! Some manufacturers will reveal this information on the actual product or the manufacturer's website.
When choosing your drawing/painting surface look for these important key words: archival, artist grade, professional grade or look for these words: acid-free, ph-neutral, lignin free, 100% cotton rag, 100% cotton, artist quality, fine quality, high quality, premium quality, professional quality, so your surface will last a long time and not deteriorate and not turn yellow! Do not use surfaces labeled "student grade" or "scholastic"!
Go to the Dick Blick website and check out their art supplies. All you need to do is look for the above key words under the product description to make sure you are buying the high quality art materials. Buy books at Amazon website.
The Traditional Portrait Painting: Going back in time just before cameras were invented, 1 may hire an artist to paint a portrait as a gift for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, or even unique occasions. For an artist to paint a portrait the subject have to sit extremely still and at times for lengthy hours as the artist tries to depict the picture to look almost as if it truly is original with the use of oil painting mediums. It's such a strenuous and demanding practice to invest the long wee hours for the artist to paint the portrait of the person who commissioned it. Art is far more than just a very simple expression but rather it's thought frozen in colorful handworked magic just like the Quality Art Oil you may see on this page.
Art dealers shouldn't have any right to resell and capitalize on the function they didn't create and live their lives in luxury by those sales. This will be the worst type of stealing from an artist who's long gone. There are numerous examples of this; 1 of them is now a well-known artist: Vincent Van Gogh, every painting is selling for sixty million dollars. What a shame. When 1 reads Van Gogh's biography of his hard poverty stricken life that he lived, often eating his paints to be able to survive and also the suicidal ending makes 1 cry. Vincent Van Gogh doesn't want us to sob, he wants us to prevail and be sure that no more of his unfortunate life saga repeats ever again. And several other artists want us to alter the unfair life pattern of a talented innovative fine artist. My personal wish is that, when I'm gone none of my original art pieces are ever to be sold. This may be my component in changes to the fine art world for greater. Art is far more than just a straightforward expression but rather it is thought frozen in colorful handworked magic just like the Quality Art Oil you will see on this page.
