Hey, I am nearly 16 years old and I LOVE abstract art. I am doing art for gcse now and want to carry on with applied art when i go into sixth form.
Thing is, i will be getting a job soon, but I would love to find a way where I can paint loads of canvas work and sell them...somehow..while making my artwork heard. I was just looking at ebay but its hard to find what kind of artwork the public likes.
I mean I am aiming for a-a* and at the moment i am working at an A so its not like i am rubbish at art. Its just finding a way to earn some money and more and more people will know about my art.
I also live near to a well known modern art gallery and i think you can sometimes give your artwork to them and can get paid.

i guess you should just walk around local galleries, cafes and framing shops(if there are any) and just ask if you can display a painting...then if people like it and buy it, you could start displaying a few more and get orders...but i wouldn't be too ambitious, it is soo competitive in art and therefore very difficult make yourself known,
...but i guess it's a good thing if you start trying early...you'll have more of a chance that way 
i personally am not too keen on using deviant art, i think there would be problems with plagiarism and also work would be hard to sell because most people on there are artists anyway who aren't interested in others' works
